Environment Integration

Silicon Office integrates local desktop, local area networks, and net based environments in one.

All of the Silicon Office utilities can access files on windows environments or over the net through using the HTTP protocol and TCP/IP network protocol.

Files can be accessed by directly referencing their location. The GET command retrieves and opens a file in the appropriate SILICON OFFICE utility.
For Example:

GET [http://www.siliconoffice.com]	Opens a web site on the world wide web in Silicon Office over the http protocol
GET [http://ournet/docs/salesletter.sot]	Opens a document named "salesletter.sot" in Silicon Office over the http protocol
GET [C:\My Databases\MyPhoneBook]	Opens a data table named MyPhoneBook stored on the local windows machine in Silicon Office
GET [\\WindowsServer\Shared Data\sales]	Opens a data table named "sales" stored on the network neighbourhood path "\\WindowsServer\Shared Data" in Silicon Office
GET [//SALESDB:Prospects]	Opens a data tables named "Prospects" which exists in the data system defined for the BDE Alias name SALESDB. The SALESDB name may point to any ODBC or third party database system which is supported by the BDE. eg. MySQL data base server on a UNIX web server.
